X is for Xmas

Hello!  Did everyone have a good Christmas?  Mine was good, too, thanks.  I got to see the new Star Wars finally and managed to avoid any spoilers.

Anyhow, I think Edna had a great Christmas.  I can tell by her smile. Do you see it too?

Our X-mas challenge continues for two more weeks; so if you have a Christmas card you haven't posted anywhere yet, link it up to The Snarky Sisterhood's X is for X-mas challenge.

The image is Crabby Cat Christmas from Bugaboo, which I colored with Copics.  The background of the card was done with Dylusions paints, stencil and stamp.

I've also decided to share an art journal page that I did with Dylusions paints again with images from The Octopode Factory.

Remember you have until 11:55 p.m. EST on Friday, January 8 to play along with the X is for X-mas challenge.  Please upload it here. Heck, you can get started on next year's cards if you want!

Happy Naughty Christmas!

Edna and the sisters are ready for our second annual Naughty Christmas challenge!  Be naughty.  Be snarky.  Be sweet, or cute, or grown up, or whatever your style is but do it festively.  If I haven't written anymore than this, then I ran out of time and I will get this post fixed as soon as I get home.  ;)

Yodel with the Sisterhood

Challenge 47 for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers requires you to make a music themed card. You don't really have to yodel if you don't want! I went in a different direction with my inspiration.  I found the saying "your screams and tears are music to my ears." I thought that it would be much better if a monster would say that.

I found this guitar playing monster on Etsy as part of a digital coloring page. The drumming squirrel was there too! I colored them with Copic markers and added them to my art journal.  The journal page is done with Dylusions stamps and paints, and Posca pens.

If you wanna hang out with the Sisterhood and play in our musically themed challenge, please stop by our page of snark to see what our guest designer, Gloria, and the other sisters have put together for your viewing pleasure.  You have until Friday November 27 at 2355 EST  (11:55 p.m.) to enter.

Thanks for stopping by!

Day 29 of 31 Days of Halloween

Quick post today as it's nearly deadline

I cut this "Mourners Hat" out on my Silhouette last night.  I really should have tried this hat pattern out first, as I ran into a few cutting issues, but I pretty much got it together.  I stamped the hat band, but it's difficult to see.

Day 27 of 31 Days of Halloween

I bought this witch stamp recently and her legs, arms and heads (she came with 2) are different stamps; she can be put together like an art doll. I thought that I was going to put her on a clock and make the "witching hour" pun. Then I remembered a book that my teacher assigned me called Which Witch is Witch? I had a hard time with which and if you threw in a sandwich I would be very confused.  Which Witch has the Sandwich might have been what I really needed.

I decided to keep this art journal page in black and white, wanting to do something a bit different, and I really wanted to play along with the Dylusions Facebook Challenge. I'm not sure if that is authorized on the Smeared Ink 31 Days of Halloween Challenge, but I'll ask for forgiveness if it isn't.

Day 26 of 31 Days of Halloween

Hello!  We've got less than a week to go until Halloween!

Last night I made this, which was supposed to be a tag but it turned out larger than I had planned.  I guess I'll just call it a "loose page."  Maybe I'll glue it in my art journal.

Day 25 of 31 Days of Halloween

Just a quick ATC for you today.  I got to go to the Haunted Frankenstein Castle last night and then to a flea market this morning, so I didn't have much crafty time.  I chose to go humourous, and this stamp speaks for its self! Click "here" for  info on the stamp.

24 of 31 Days of Halloween

Today I've gone a bit darker, both figuratively and literally.  I've used rubber stamps from Smeared Ink which I think were designed by Rick St. Dennis, but I do not see this stamp set in the shop. Trust me, it's a fabulous set.

I layered a tag in the wall of skulls and kept the colors dark.  I stamped a piece of acetate with the sentiment, creating my first skully motivational tag.  The acetate is layered over the whole tag.  I finished off the tag with barbed wire chip board and the single skull colored with the Twisted Citron Distress Marker and Firefly Stickles.

Twisted Citron, my second favorite Distress Color of the year, and sparkles.

Day 23 of 31 Days of Halloween

I'm back!  I apologize for not having something prepared for you yesterday.  I had to stop and go to the grocery store so I could prepare homemade meatballs and spaghetti.  The minions still require feeding.

I finished coloring and cutting out the girl and then had nothing to put her on.  This morning I prepared her journal page.  My black journal is getting filled up with fun Halloween images, which is pretty awesome!

I used Copics on the skin, outfit, eyes, and boots (someday I will take that Copic class).  The hair was colored with Distress Markers (which are starting to dry out on the fine side and are only a year old, grrr). This image is a Lucy Loo from The East Wind.  Lucy Loo wears some great outfits!

The sentiment is from personal history.  My daughter grew out of the Princess phase and then began to think that all the sexy costumes were the prettiest.  I had a hard time trying to get her into something that would keep her warm for Trick or Treating.

Personal story that just happened.  You may skip ;)

My freshman boy is going to his first pep rally of high school.  He's not quite grasping the idea of forced school spirit.  He asked what would go on at the pep rally.  I told him there would be a speech about fun and safety, some cheerleaders and some shouting.  He responded with, "Maybe they just need to collect a certain number of souls like on Buffy the Vampire Slayer."  I responded with, "You can always hope."

Day 21 of 31 Days of Halloween

I tried a Grumpy on a card again today, complete with Distress Glitter.  I am happier with the glitter application than I was yesterday. This vampire Grumpy is also from Smeared Ink's Creepy Little Grumpies set. I think I need to use all the dressed up Grumpies in this set and create a diorama. Hmm, give me a day to think about that.

Day 20 of 31 Days of Halloween

Today I have a Halloween card to share with you.  I made this using a stamp from Smeared Ink's Creepy Little Grumpies set.  I have this whole plate and it has the Grumpy characters dressed in different Halloween costumes.  This is obviously the perfect for Smeared Ink's 31 Days of Halloween Challenge.

I wasn't too happy with the Distress Glitter that I used to decorate the edges of my card with.  Sometimes I like to add that little something extra, but this wasn't the answer. Day 19 of 31 Days of Halloween

Today is #19 in the 31 Days of Halloween!

Hello and welcome to my day of cultural appropriation. I do not celebrate el Día de Muertos but I do enjoy the art, colors, altars, and sugar skulls.

I went and played in my black journal again.  Also I used the bride and groom from the Octopode Factory.  Journalling in white pen is really fun on a black art journal page, I realized today and then I had to force myself to stop so I could go to the bank. Another realization, I can now justify buying more Posca Pens!  White and black are the only large tipped markers that I have and 0.7mm tips are kind of a pain when filling in larger areas.  I feel a shopping trip coming on!

Day 18 of 31 Days of Halloween

I'm glad that everyone enjoyed my snarky side on yesterdays combined project.  I love my Snarky Sisters.  We definitely  don't do syrupy sweet there!

Today is the project in my art journal that I have been waiting to share with you all.  I just finished it up. This took a bit more of creativity from me than usual.  I give you "Trick or Treat: The Game." I had fun putting this together.  Rubber Stamps are mostly from Stamper's Anonymous and the skelly is a digi from The Octopode Factory.

Day 17 of 31 Days of (Snarky) Halloween

Today I have pink, cute, and a bit funny for you as this post is also for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stamper's Pink Halloween challenge as well as Smeared Ink's 31 Days of Halloween challenge.  The Sisterhood wants people to make a Halloween project with PINK being the predominant color, in lieu of the usual orange, black, purple and green.

My caramel coloring isn't quite up to par...  The stamp is from Sweet Stamp Shop.

I'd like to invite all the Wicked Bloggers to join us at the Sisterhood for Pink Halloween!  If you would like to play along you have until 11:55 pm (EDT) to upload your project.

Day 16 of 31 Days of Halloween

I'm trying to hang in here.  I've been super busy this week, and it involves me and over 200 pounds of homemade fudge, which I am off to peddle right after this post.  Tomorrow there will be a project as I also owe it to my poor neglected design team.
Today my project is an ATC of cast off bits and pieces that have made and set aside since 31 Days of Halloween has been occurring.  I needed something quick this morning.  I just had to stamp and emboss and I was done.

Day 14 of 31 Days of Halloween

I apologize for my absence yesterday.  I was very close to posting this yesterday, but was called away as soon as I had taken a picture of my project.  Living in Europe gives me a bit of advantage as I am nine hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time ;)

This journal page has used mostly Dylusions products, stamps, sprays, paints and the journal itself.  The witch hat and jack-o-lantern are from the Crazy Birds accessories. This was a fun page to put together and it came together quickly.  When I stamped the green bats over the purple dots, the part where the colors overlapped turned the same orange as the stamped spiders.  I found that to be kind of fortunate and funny.

Day 11 of 31 Days of Halloween

First off today I have a message from a question asked in yesterdays comments:

Sarah Bales Strom, yes, yesterday I used a Stampotique stamp.  Here is a link for you.  I apologize for not sharing what I have been using.

Moving along, I was browsing for digistamps and this caught my eye. These images are sold as digital stamps or coloring pages and I thought they were quite lovely and I wanted to color one.  In fact you'll probably see one more from this artist as thought here witches were lovely.  This is the link to the Etsy shop.

It took me a while to use digis, but now I can't imagine being without them.  I enjoy choosing their size and immediate  shopping satisfaction. Plus I don't have to figure out where to put them in my crafting space.

My pretty witch was colored with Copics and Distress Markers, the BG stamp is Stamper's Anonymous and the tag was colored with Distress Inks.  And if you look, you can see I forgot to color her lips.

I was in a bit of a rush to get her photographed today and didn't notice the lips until I was cropping the photo.  I had to pick my husband up from the air port.  He's now back after two months away! Expect tomorrow's project and post to be small and simple.  I've got some catching up to do.  However I am pretty excited about the art journal piece that I am working on and I am looking forward to sharing it with you all.

Day 10 of 31 Days of Halloween

How is everyone today?  I hope you are all still merrily hopping along, enjoying everyones art work.  My tag is a bit batty.  Apparently there was not enough coffee today, my hamster wheel isn't turning.  I'll have to let the Queen of the Bat Wings speak for herself.

Day 9 of 31 Days of Halloween

On Fridays we use Smeared Ink stamps.

Well, we're supposed to, but I forgot last week. I did better this week as I used the Build a Zombie rubber stamp set. You can mix and match different zombie bits. I think Smeared Ink should make more zombie accessories for these dead fellows, maybe a few new heads (ahem!  HINT).

I put together two ATCs and now I have Day Zombie and Night Zombie.

Day 8 of 31 Days of Halloween

Today I have gone in the vintage/ glam direction. The spiderweb background I had stamped and embossed in white has been sitting on my desk for a few days now. That stamp was the best dollar bin purchase I think I have ever made. This image was cut out for another project, but wasn't used because I had "misplaced" it on my desk. I liked this witch holding her necklace, so I am glad that she has been placed on a project.

Day 7 of 31 Days of Halloween

I've made it through the first week of 31 Days of Halloween! Yup, that's a project a day, and I still have a few ideas left for the rest of the month! Things are looking good

Yesterday I asked my friend if I should do monsters or skulls today. She said always go with skulls.
I even listened. I kept thinking about skeletons and parties.  My set of ATCs today became philosophical.  How deep of me.

Day 6 of 31 Days of Halloween.

Today my post is creepy cute, but more on the cute side.  I wanted some monsters to go with the sentiment stamp, and I found these guys on Etsy. I'm also keeping this post short, so, you're welcome.

Today's bad joke was brought to you by me!

Day 5 of 31 Days of Halloween

Here is something different from me today. I put together a graveyard scene in an Altoids tin. I probably have ten Altoids tins floating around my house that I have "been meaning to do something with." I dug one out and here it is:

I stamped the moon and layered it with embossing powder which made it shiny and hard to photograph. The praying skeleton was stamped and embossed in white on white card stock.  I then used a black spray mist to define the skeleton's shape.

I'd like to thank all of the Horrifying Hoppers and friends for your lovely comments on my ATC Halloween Crazy Birds.  They were fun to make and I am glad that you also enjoyed them.

Day 4 of 31 Days of Halloween

Here is the last of my Halloween Crazy Birds.  I've saved my favorite for last, my Zombird.  I really like that dangling rotting eyeball. I hope you have enjoyed my birds. B is for Boobs

It's that pink month again, reminding us to take care of our bodies, in particular our breasts.  You can do your part by scheduling a mammogram, reminding your loved ones to get a mammogram, or make a donation to an organization that focuses on research to find a cure for breast cancer (and not just makes cute pink t-shirts).

Now I'll show you mine:

This buxom gal is a Slinky Tart digi.
Now show us yours:

If you want to play along you don't have to have a breast cancer awareness theme to your project (but you can if you want to) but the Sisters do insist on seeing your boobs somewhere on your project! You have until 11:55 pm (EDT) on Friday October 16.

Please stop by the Snarky Sisterhood to see what my sisters and our guest designer, Emily, have made for this challenge.

P.S. I swear my purples matched better IRL.

31 Days of Halloween: Day 3

It's day three of Wicked Blogging for the Smeared Ink 31 Days of Halloween blog hop!
Today is also day three of my Crazy Bird Halloween ATC set. You only have one more Crazy Bird  from me after today. Be warned however, the birds are becoming spookier. Today I present you with Dr. Frankenbird's Monster.

Thanks again to all of the Horrifying Hoppers for your kind and encouraging comments.

31 Days of Halloween: Day 2

It's day two of Wicked Blogging for the Smeared Ink 31 Days of Halloween blog hop! I'm on a roll!
Today is also day two of my Crazy Bird Halloween ATC set. This birdie is the sweetest of the bunch.
This little witch has accessorized her hat with a tiny spider, or maybe that it is her snack for later.

31 Days of Halloween: Day 1

I decided to join Smeared Ink as a Wicked Blogger at the very last minute. Signing up was closed late and I joined when I saw the Facebook last call announcement. So here I am, willing to make and blog something Halloween or Day of the Dead themed every day in October.

Because of my last chance to join status, I am starting out easy and small. I have an ATC (Artist Trading Card) set that I will show individually. My goal is to have a larger project to share on Mondays, but we will see how that goes.

With out further ado, ATC 1:

I have seen this Crazy Bird done up as Dracula before. Just look at him, his wings just lend themselves as part of the traditional vampire cape.

Time for Steampunk

The Challenge

The Snarky Sisters are going punk, Steam Punk, that is!  This challenge is fun for some of the sisters, while others would rather have their teeth pulled.  Lucky for me, I am in the former group.

I decided to get painty with my project.  To begin, I glued down some metal letters and numbers that I have had forever.  Once I got into my metals bin, I realized that I hadn't been in ages, so I decided to add other bits to my card and I decided that the butterfly would be my image instead of a digital stamp I had downloaded. The other metal bits on my card are gears, clock hands, and the fuse embellishment.  The paints are Lumiere;  the glitter glass, micro beads, and stamps are from Finnabair (Prima).

Wanna play along and join the sisterhood?? Of course you do...here are the deets you need to know:

You have until 11:55 pm (EDT) on Friday October 2nd to upload your project.

I'll Pass on the Gas!

It seems that Edna has recently had a stomach bug.  Things have been rather atmospheric around the Sisterhood thanks to her.  In support of Edna's fearsome flatulence we decided to have the "F is for Fart" challenge.  We're always keeping it classy!

Believe it or not, I am no teller of fart jokes. I had to buy a stamp set for this challenge.  I know, right?  The things I must do to participate!  I love the little mouse!  I just painted the image with Distress Inks and sandwiched it between 2 pieces of yellow card stock.  Now I have no one to send it to.

Adorable mice close up.  Find the "Cheese Please" stamp set here from Sweet Stamp Shop.

Are you ready to go make your own fart card?  I know you want to do this! You have two weeks to enter our challenge, that is plenty of time for farting around!  You have until 11:55 pm (EDT) on Friday September 18 to upload your project here.  Need inspiration?  Visit the home blog of the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers to see what our current Queen of Snark, Michelle, and the rest of the Snarky Sisters have put together for you!

Thanks for stopping by!

If you have nothing nice to say...

I have nothing to say...on the outside.  It's not allowed for this challenge because it is for an Image Only project.  Yes, I know Edna still has words, but I had to provide the information somehow.

Most of my favorite cards are Image Only.  I like the two step approach to snark.  You have a card and look at the picture and you think, "what's this about?"  Then you open the card and get your punch line.  Yup, I think I like that second of ........................delay.

The front of my card is done with Dina Wakely paints, a Dylusions stencil and black spray; a Stampendous stamp, and Posca Pens.  The inside is computer generated and I would print it out if my wifi would work in my work space!

Please visit the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers for challenge #41: Image Only to see what our guest designers and my snarky sisters have made.  If you want to play along you have until 4 September at 11:55 p.m. EDT to enter!

U is Ugly!

It's that time again!  Edna challenges you to use up that UGLY paper in your stash.  I'm sure you have some.  It could be the patterned paper that you liked 10 years ago.  It could be the paper that came as part of a pack.  Or could it be that you couldn't resist a great sale?

I found my ugly paper.  I was surprised how much ugly paper that I do have.  My daughter had to help me select the ugliest of them all.

The ugly paper is the background floral paper.  I don't think that it looks too bad here, however as a 12x12" sheet it was frighteningly eye breaking.  I even added the printed ribbon, which I find at times ugly, but I just knew I was going to be able to use somewhere!

I hope I don't have to make another ugly card for the rest of the year.  It's hard to get motivated when you have to work with something you are not excited about.  I didn't even bother to add snark! This challenge did make me rethink the amount of paper that I have hoarded. I think it's now ok to let some go, especially after it was so hard to choose the ugliest. Those papers are not going back into my stash!

Please visit our Guest Designer,  our current Queen of Snark, Stephanie and the other Sisters of Snarky Stampers for ugly paper inspiration. It's time to go through that ugly paper and let it go!

To play along with the sisterhood you have until 11:55 pm (EDT) on Friday August 21st to upload your project. Maybe YOU will be crowned Queen or Princess of Snark and win one of our awesome badges to display proudly on your blog!
