Altoids Paint Tin

I solemnly swear that I will not make a card during this challenge. Edna won't let me. But I can make anything else I want. Welcome to challenge #60: N is for Not a Card!

I've been wanting to make a travel watercolor kit out of an Altoids tin that I saw on Pinterest and this challenge gave me the perfect opportunity.  Here are some pictures of my kit.

That blue thing on the paper is supposed to be a cat.

The top
I started this project by making a Gelli print.  Don't even ask me the last time that I used my Gelli plate. Once the paper was dry, I used my Silhouette to cut out the Altoids tin pattern.  You just need to look up "mint tin" in the Silhouette search bar if you are interested.

The papers were stamped and edged with black ink.  On this top layer I affixed the vintage lady and my bit of snark. I used matte medium to glue the papers to the tin.

The bottom

Once the tin was papered, I made a mini watercolor book.  I cut four 2 inch by 3 1/4 inch pieces of watercolor paper, and a cover from the gelli print.

I stamped some images onto shrink film to add little arty charms to the bookbinding thread.

The watercolor palette is from gum packaging.  I squirted the primary colors into the gum container and left one empty for a place for water. This shorty brush fits perfectly into the tin. The book, brush, and paint all fit into the closed tin.  Now I have watercolors wherever I go!
Enough of my photos! If you want to not make a card and play along, you have until 11:55 p.m. EST on June 10th to enter your creation! Please stop by the home Snarky Sisters Blog to see what inspiration pieces my Snarky Sisters have made for you!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #343

It's Tuesday!  It's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches' new sketch.  This week's sketch was made by Jessi.

I interpreted this sketch as a gatefold card instead of two long strips of paper. I found this file on the Silhouette site and I thought it would be perfect for the current sketch.  Plus, I needed a graduation card for a special someone.  ;)

I used plain card stock for all of the elements.  I used a Sizzix embossing folder on the yellow CS.  The "'16" and the "congrats" were both coated in glitter, because I am a sadist.  I am still finding black and white sparklies all over my craft desk.

I must thank Melissa and all the ladies at Tuesday Morning Sketches for letting me be part of their team.  This is my last post for these guys.  I'm going to miss working with these talented ladies!

Please check out what my Tuesday Morning teammates have made for your inspiration this week:

Melissa has a special surprise for the winner of this challenge!  If you want to play along you have until the evening of Sunday, May 29 to enter!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

It sure is Fugly!

Oh, Edna, you're hurting my eyes! How can you be wearing that dress infant of that wall paper?  It's so F-ing Ugly!  It's FUgly!

Welcome to the F is for Fugly challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! We aren't sure why Edna is making us do this challenge.  We want to make beautiful snarky things.  Maybe it's time to pull out the  papers, or stamps, or embellishments from the bottom of our stashes.  These Fugly items have been hiding from us out of shame.  It's time to do something with all the fuglies and get them from taking up room that should be reserved for lovely craft items.

For this card I went to my hidden Fugly stash, which is also known as my Basic Grey paper stack.  In their collections, Basic Grey has given us some doozies.  I think that the patterned paper actually looks  pretty good when it is broken up with other elements. This paper pack is still available on Amazon.com!  ;)

I decided to use the boy from the Dylusions Monster Mash stamp set. He's not too pretty himself. The sentiment is from River City Rubber works, and it reads:

In other words, be yourself! Want to play along with the Sisterhood? Of course you do!  You have until 11:55 EST on Friday, May 27th to upload your project using something FUGLY!  Please check out our Guest Designer, Creepy Glowbug, as well as my Snarky Sisters:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #351

Welcome back to my weekly posting for Tuesday Morning Sketches!  You see the sketch that Patti made for us?  It's all clean and simple looking and is a fine sketch. But I turned the sketch into an art journal page.

I turned the sketch on its side and used the wavy line to make a flap.  The circle is the flower by her ear. Everything else was me having fun.

I recently bought this set of cats (Katzelkraft les chats russes) after admiring them on other people's crafty blogs.  So I stamped  all of the cats and colored them in the style I saw here. I drew them a simple cat tree and used them all

Please visit my fellow teammates to see what they have done with this weeks sketch.  They might have gone a bit more traditional than me. Patti is also our sponsor this week, so she might have a little prize to give away!

I used Dylusions products, ink sprays, paint, stencils, and stamps; for this art journal.
I would like to enter my art journal page into the following contests:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #350

Welcome back, Tuesday Morning Sketches followers! I hope you have all had a great week full of springy sunshine, or at least for you Canadians, no more new snow!  I still have a hard time believing that it is May now.

Here is our sketch for the first week of May, and we are being sponsored  by Digital Delights by Louby Loo!

I have used the image Splish Splash Susie.  She looks like she is ready to gleefully stomp through puddles. I colored her with Copic markers and used my Silhouette to cut out the clouds and raindrops.

Please visit my Tuesday Morning teammates to see what they have done with this week's sketch.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

As always, thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog!

Quilts aren't Paper!

Q is for Quilting

Challenge 58, Q is for Quilts, encourages you to use paper piecing or a quilt theme on your project. I did a bit a paper piecing on a card for my example. I found this idea of using circles to make flowers, so here is my version.  The PP is from Kaisercraft's Jubilee collection.

My card did not have snark, and I couldn't disappoint anyone that came here looking for snark, so I have decided to continue with another altered playing card.  It has some "paper pieces" so it fits the challenge theme, right?

sparkles!

If you want to play along in our paper piecing challenge, you have until 11:55 pm EDT on Friday May 13 to upload your project. Please visit our reigning Queen of Snark, Abzappel, and my fellow Snarky Sisters to see what they have made for you with their paper piecing skills!  We have adopted two new sisters, so say hello to Majo and Dotty Jo!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #349

Hello again!  I've got my new project from Tuesday Morning Sketches to share with you!  Meet Sketch # 349.

Instead of making a card this week, I have made a tag. When I used the sketch, I rotated it vertically and  replaced the circle elements with flowers made out of cash register receipts.  The tag is G45 packaging, and was painted with white gesso and craft paints, stenciled with modeling paste, stamped,  and then embellished.

If you want to play along you have through Sunday, May 1 to enter this week's  challenge.  Melissa is giving away a Freckled Fawn embellishment pouch as this week's prize!  Please visit my fellow teammates to see what they have made for you this week!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and having a look!  I would like to enter the challenge below:

This week at Tuesday Morning Sketches our sketch this week is by Debbie, and we have a prize offered by Patti.

Here is my take on the sketch:

Embrace the Embossabilities

It's time to play along with the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers again!  Our latest and greatest challenge is E is for Embossing.  You can emboss your favorite way, with a folder,  or with a heat tool and  embossing powder. To join in all you need to do is include embossing (if you can serve your embossing up with a side of snark, even better)!

I went with heat embossing on my altered playing card.  First I used clear gesso on the card, heat embossed and finally painted the card and rubbed the paint off from the embossed areas. I also added a bit of ink to tone down the bright blues.  The background paper was first painted, then embossed, then painted in black.

My gentleman is from Tumble Fish Studios and the brilliant words are from Lisa's Altered Art.

Wanna play along and join the Sisterhood?? Of course you do...
You have until 11:55 pm EDT on Friday April 29 to upload your project on the Sisterhood homepage.   Please take a look at what my Snarky Sisters and our guest designer, Jane, have made for you this challenge. Thanks for stopping by!

I really liked my card and thought I would enter these challenges:

Tuesday Morning Sketches #347 Featuring Lacy Sunshine

Hello again!  I've had a great week.  Spring break has started for my kids and they get the rest of this week off school. We just got back from an overnight trip and I think we might take more just to keep the kids busy.  My daughter is interested in art journaling, so we have been working on some techniques together.  This week instead of making a card to follow the latest Tuesday Morning Sketch, I have an art journal page for you.

We also have Lacy Sunshine Stamps as our sponsor this week.  They have so many fun images!

I have used Mermella Steampunk Siren from Lacy Sunshine Stamps.  I was drawn to this image of the mermaid with the mechanical octopus because it reminds me of some of my favorite books.  I like steampunk and paranormal books.  One of my favorite series is steampunk paranormal.  Although the books does not have any mermaids, they do have werewolves, vampires and ghosts, as well as an "Order of the Octopus" and a mechanical octopus called an "octomaton."

Mermella does have a fishing net, but I didn't include it when I fussy cut her to go into my art journal.

You have through Sunday, April 17 to play along with this sketch.  Please visit my fellow Tuesday Morning Sketches Teammates to see what they have made to inspire you this week!

I'd like to enter my art journal into Crafting With an Attitude Challenge #14 and to Lacy Sunshine Anything Goes Biweekly challenge.  I just saw that they have some of the cutest gnomes.  I told you that I like fantasy creatures!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #346

Welcome back to my post for Tuesday Morning Sketches!  This week Melissa has made us  the sketch. I think that this sketch was cute and perfect for my image.  My image is from A Day for Daisies, who is our sponsor this week. This site has some awesome images, and they are willing to give this week's winner a $12.00 voucher!

I stuck to the sketch again this week.  The image I used is Bunny Hot Air Balloon. Thank you again, A Day for Daisies!  I did add the "happy birthday" into the balloon with my computer.

The papers are all from the "Classique" collection from Authentique.  I printed the image onto blue card stock and marker paper.  I only used the balloon from the image I printed on the marker paper.  There was no way I was going to be able to cut out those dainty balloon lines.  The bunny is colored with the white Signo pen. I did paint the bottom layer of card stock to look like clouds, using white gesso and Broken China Distress Paint.

Enough about me!  Please visit Tuesday Morning Sketches and the blogs of my talented Tuesday teammates:

You have through Sunday, April 10 to play along with this week's sketch.  Thanks for stopping by my blog.  :)

Knock Knock

Has everyone survived April Fools Day without too much uninvited trauma?  My family doesn't participate in elaborate pranks, so I didn't eat mayonnaise frosted cupcakes.  Edna looks like she doesn't enjoy this kind of foolery, so I gently settled for a joke.  Welcome to the newest challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers: J is for Joke!

I went through my stamps and didn't find anything suitable for this challenge.  I wound up using a clean joke generator online and decided to make my own digi stamp for this card.

I colored her up, mounted her on patterned paper, and added stamped chipboard shapes, and, viola!  A card is born.

Tuesday Morning Sketches Twofer

Hello again!  It's so nice to have you stop by to see what I have made with this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch.  Our newest sketch features an off centered tag.  I kept my cards simple this week, because I made two!

This card features a dog, wearing a cone of shame. The digital stamp is from Whimsy Doodles. It's made with the Lucky Basic Grey collection that I bought seven or eight years ago.  I'm really trying to use up my stash this year.  You see those fibers?  Same collection and never been used!

This next card features a digital slow loris stamp from Aurora Wings.  For a few more days, you can donate to the fundraiser and participate in the contest!

If you would like to play along with this week's challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches, you have until April 3rd to enter.  Please stop by and see what my fellow design team members have made for your inspiration!

All The Strong Pretty Ladies

Today brings you sketch #344, designed by teammate Debbi, at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  Sketch 344 is a lovely, simple design that would go with any project that could make.

Instead of making a card, I made a trio of ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) with Graphic 45's A Ladies Diary.  Every piece of patterned paper that G45 makes has fun images to fussy cut and use on something else. The rub-ons are from Tim Holtz and Basic Grey.  I gave the ladies strong sentiments instead of just using words such as "beauty" and "grace."

If you want to play along with our sketch this week, we are being hosted by Di's Digis.  There may be a prize for you!  You have until Sunday, March 27 to enter this week's challenge.   Please stop by and visit my fellow Tuesday Morning Sketches crew!

Thanks for visiting my blog!

I'd like to enter my ATCs into these challenges:

I think my ATCs are delicate looking and they are pretty clean and simple for me!
