Love This

The current Punky Scraps challenge board is to die for.  It's way too cool for me!  But since I am on the team, I used it anyway.

The rules for this challenge are to use the mood board as well as select three of these: staples, masks, misting, or flair.

I joked on the Punky Blog that it was the set of sugar skulls that inspired me.  I wasn't really joking, and the photo was taken on the return of my first outing after having the flu.  And no make up. Ugh.  Be thankful I made the selfie black and white.

Join us over at Punky Scraps to enter.  We give you 6 weeks to get our challenges done, so no excuses!

Bloody Valentine Blog Hop Day 3

Today is the third and final day of the Smeared and Smudged Bloody Valentine Blog Hop.  It's sad and sweet all at the same time.

My entry for today bring's a familiar, classic face.

I'm sharing two different photos, as one caught the shine of the mist better, but wasn't a great photo on its own.

I used stamps from Tim Holtz, Dylusions, 3rd Eye and EAP is from Cherry Pie Arts on Etsy.

I don't have any pictures of my house today, because I no longer have a house.  We've hit the road and will be living out of hotels until we find a place in Germany.  Bring on the next adventure.  (And please bring my crafty stuff soon!)

Thanks for following me on this hop.  I enjoyed making these items and sharing them with you all.

Bloody Valentine Blog Hop Day 2

Hello and welcome back to the Smeared and Smudged Bloody Valentine Blog Hop!
(Insert Kermit the Frog type "HooooRayyy! here."

Today I am sharing a card that is a bit more on the "light" side, but still has a macabre element.

Inside:

I used Dylusions stamps and Copic markers, with a bit of Glossy Accents to highlight the monster tongue and drool.

The movers are about finished packing and wrapping all of our house, and they will load our things into crates tomorrow.  I am so thankful for these guys.  I don't think I could make it as an Army wife without movers.  I couldn't pack up my house every two years without them.  Unpacking is bad enough!

My living room:

Looking cozy!

Thanks to everyone who left such great comments yesterday.  I'm glad to know that there are others out there that enjoy things that are a "bit different."

Bloody Valentine Blog Hop Day One

Happy Bloody Valentine's Day!

I am playing along again with the Smeared and Smudged Bloody Valentine Blog Hop.  I enjoyed the 12 Days of Creepmas, and I wanted to play along again.  I just may be crazy.  Today the movers began packing up our house.  This is what my craft room looked like as of 4 p.m. Monday, Feb 10.  Tomorrow, I will lose internet and move into a hotel.  I have all the time in the world!  And I'm not sure where my camera is at the moment.

Thanks for looking!  And remember that I am playing with limited supplies (just what I can fit into luggage) and photographing with my phone (which suitcase did I stick my camera  into?)

I hand wrote (printer is packed) the last part of Edna St. Vincent Millay's "Mariposa" poem:

Suffer me to take your hand.
Suffer me to cherish you
Till the dawn is in the sky.
Whether I be false for true,
Death comes in a day or two.

Stamps used: Pandora and Grim Butterfly by 3rd Eye

Did You Miss It?

My kinder, gentler blog posted a Valentine's Day project for Zeus and Zoe.  If you missed this sweet face, please visit veryvibrantviolette.blogspot.com.  You will be treated much more nicely there, and will be offered complimentary robes.

Thanks!

(I was lying about the robes)

Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers

I must sadly inform you that the Drunken Stampers Challenge Blog has closed.

The only response from the Design Team was:  "How soon can we start our own blog?'  The DT answered, " immediately!"  Much like joining the circus, we've run off and formed a new challenge blog.

We will post a challenge every other Saturday.  We welcome all craft media.  We even welcome all crafters, because we know there are snarky, crafty misters out there!

And now for the first challenge:

Yes, there are some of us that aren't all love sick and squishy with feelings.  If you're not currently into mushy, gushy stuff, this challenge is for you.  The challenge is open until February 21.  Please enter here.

My image is a digital stamp from Aurora Wings, whom I found on Etsy.  She has some amazing images.  The sentiment I came up with myself (that I am aware of) and I printed  and pasted it to my card.

Please visit my other DT members blog's to see all of our snark.  The Blog roll is on the right side.

Favorite Memory, Simple Sketches #23 using CSI 107

Here is another Saturday post for Simple Sketches.  I am filling in on the A team for this sketch challenge:

And this is my take on the sketch:

If you would like to enter the sketch challenge, you have until       .

I also followed the challenge board for C.S.I. 107.

The photos are of my husband and me, before we got married.  Which makes these photos a couple of years, a few pounds, and two kids ago.

The Scheme

I tried to hit all of the colors in the scheme.

Evidence

My evidence includes flowers, flair, splashes, wet medium, stripes and a grungy harlequin pattern.

Testimony
I looked through the recommended website, 1000 Awesome Things, and found this prompt: When it Feels Like the Lyrics to the Song You're Listening to Were Written Just For You.  When I was preparing to do this LO, I found these old pictures down in the basement.  They were in frames, but we hadn't scanned them into the computer.  I decided to scan them in before we move t our new house.  I would hate to lose these pictures!

As I mentioned, these pictures were taken before and during our engagement, but before we were married.  My husband and I went to high school together.  We did not date, but were friends.  (I wanted to date him, but he had a girl friend.)  Despite the fact that he had this girl friend, we spent a lot of time together our senior year of high school and the summer afterwards.

My husband had a bit of a falling out over the girl friend (he wasn't her only boy friend).  And then my husband and I went our separate ways.  He went to the army, and I went into the navy.  It took us seven years to be in the spot where we were both single.  I went to visit him, and we found that we were still great friends.  On my drive home, I heard the song, "If You Leave," by OMD.  The lyrics, especially:

Seven years went under the bridge

Like time was standing still

Heaven knows what happens now
You've gotta, you've gotta say you will

These words hit home.  During my drive, I wasn't sure what would happen between the two of us, since we lived 4 hours apart.  He didn't want a long distance relationship.  I didn't want to be without him.  Somehow, I managed to convince him that I was worth it.  This year we will celebrate our 15th anniversary.

Thanks for visiting!
