Simple Sketches #14: Opening Night

Sketch 14 is ready for your viewing pleasure!  I am enjoying working on Melissa's team.  I am in awe of how versatile her sketches can be if your style is clean and simple or if you prefer a bit more on your page.

My version of this sketch is clean and simple.*

Drunken Stamper 152 Metal

Hello fellow card makers!  This week the Drunken Stampers are challenging you with Metal.  Your card can have anything metal or metallic.

I left my card as clean and simple as I was able.  I used green foil for the tree and used an embossing folder and a silver sharpie for interest.  The stars and moon in the night sky are all metal stickers.   The snowy hills are not metal, but I did add Prima chalk and diamond dust to their edges.

Best part, another Christmas card down!

Please have a look at what my fellow Tropical Hooters teammates came up for this week's challenge.

You have until 11:59 pm EST Friday, December 6 to add your link!

Thanks for playing along!

Scraps of Darkness "Water Lilies" Kit

I am a guest designer at Scraps of Darkness again.  They let me come back!  Melinda Kelly must be the most generous person on Earth!  She's like Santa Claus.

This is my take on this month's Scraps of Darkness sketch.

Thankful for G45

I finally used some G45 that I had been hoarding to make an ATC for a swap.  Just thought that I would share this with everyone.

Thanks for looking!

Starr Kempf

For this sketch I used photos of one of Starr Kempf's sculptures.  My husband knows how much I like sculpture and road side art, so he took me to this spot while we were in Colorado over the summer.  Here is a bit of information about this artist and his sculptures.

This is sketch #12 from Simple Sketches.

Elvis is in My Blog!

This week's theme at Drunken Stampers is a person.  That person was the King of Bling!  Ok, he's pretty much the king of rock and roll, but he was not scared to bring on the bling.

Your challenge is to make a card with Elvis, or your project can have a music theme.

I used blue card stock for the base of my card.  I used heavy gel medium with the new Tim Holtz (thanks, Tim!) stars stencil then added dark blue and white glitter while the medium was wet.  The Elvis stamp is from pinkflamingo61 on Etsy.  I stamped the image with Staz-On ink, then went over the word "Elvis" with Crystal Stickles.  I gave the King all of the bling I could.  Then I cheated.  I used stickers.  Yes, the words, notes and badge are from a sticker kit.  I just felt Elvis needed all the glitz he could get.

On the inside of the card I mounted a white piece of card stock and stuck more stickers on there.  I figured from here you could make it any kind of celebration card.

Check out how my other Tropical Hooter teammates can inspire you for this week's challenge.

You have until 11:59 p.m. PST Friday (22nd November) to enter to become our newest Life of the Party!!!!

should I do it?
Thank you, thank you very much.

I want a dollar for any of my design team members that types that on their blogs!

Halloween Mini Album Cover

I started working on a mini album to celebrate my kids' Halloweens.  I have lots of Halloween paper to use, and one of my favorite places, 3rd Eye, is having a pumpkin challenge.  I think I may still have time to enter the 3rd Eye contest!

The zombie hands stamp and the die cut spiderweb are both by 3rd Eye.

Fashionista @ 7

Challenge #69 at Punky Scraps is ready for your participation!  Here are the inspiration photo and the optional sketch.

All those clothes in the inspiration photo remind me of playing dress up.  Here is my daughter modeling her new sweater.  Her boots were light pink and beat up, so I recolored them in photoshop.  You have until December 15th to upload your project on the Punky Scraps page!

The Queen of the Mellow Time

"Autumn's the mellow time."
-William Allingham
I used autumn as inspiration for the October/November tag swap at Scraps of Darkness.  I hope you like it, Sarah! I enjoyed making this one.

There's No Day Like a Snow Day

I participated on the "A" team this week, so I have an extra post.

Simple Sketches #10

I am late posting this, I should have done this on November 2nd!

Jack-O'-Lanterns are one of my favorite parts of Halloween, which is my favorite holiday.
I always try to remember to get a picture of them in the dark, which shows off their true Jack-O'-Lantern character.

Here is sketch #10 from Simple Sketches:

Again, sorry for being forgetful!

He Was Away Often

Drunken Stampers Challenge 148 has rolled out with the theme of "workplace."
I chose pilot as I am married to one and speak from experience.

 Inside of card:

The stamps on my card were done in River City Rubber Works except for the compass, which is an old Stampendous one.  The images were stamped on white CS with Dove Gray Staz-On and colored with Copics.  The background and compass were done in Distress Inks.  I used Salty Ocean, Broken China, and Tumbled glass.  The clouds are chippies from UmWowStudio.

Join us at Drunken Stampers and you could be chosen as our Life of the Party for this challenge!  Upload your entry by Friday, November 8th at 11:59p.m. PST.

Fall Colors

Time to bring out your fall colors for the boy side of the challenge at Boy Meets Girl!  Show us your boy in autumn splendor.  I was able to get this photo of my son with the last red tree in our neighborhood, all the while blinding him.  I seem to have picked the last sunny day to take this photo.  Most of our days have been foggy and drizzly.  It's even snowed lightly where I live.

Now for the general rules and disclaimers:  You can add your lay out to the BMG page using the inlinkz tool under AAB November Challenge.  Make sure that the photo is of a male person.  Use fall colors.  Upload by the 15th of this month.  Have fun and enjoy the rest of your autumn.
