Can you make Edna laugh?  Here is my try:

I punched out the bullet holes for fun.  Then I decided to turn this into an anniversary card.  My husband missed our anniversary last month because he was away for work.  ;)

Evidence of Spring

You know that it is spring and the weather takes a turn for the better when you can again hear the bird song in the mornings.  To celebrate the return of spring and the birds, I made a card to play along at Rubber Dance Art Stamps.

Here is the current month's color challenge and theme at Rubber Dance.  The colors are fresh, spring pastels.

"In addition to our colour scheme we also have an optional THEME: SPRING

(if you want to - many of the DT used nature stamps for this theme but you could also create with an Easter theme or celebrate new beginnings, for example)"

I started off my card base and stamped image with Gelli prints.  I used the Dina Wakely paints, then I applied white gesso with a brayer over the print.  I love the paints, but they are not pastel! 

Once gessoed, I used spray mist and a stencil to add the leafy pattern.  I added in more yellow with paint to brighten things back up.  I stamped the bird on a different print, then I used colored pencils on the bird to give it a bit more contrast from the background.  The sentiment belongs to the same Dina Wakely stamp set as the bird.  The card was finished off with thread, twine, and spray misted ribbon.

A Dream Within a Dream

I have started dabbling with art journals.  I've been wanting to play with this format for years, but finally took the plunge with the monthly Express Yourself Workshops hosted by Scraps of Darkness.
Here is what I came up with for the March workshop.

But first, the prompt:

1. Gesso your page. You pick - clear, white or black.

2. Use complementary colors for your color scheme. Intro to the color wheel and theory here:

3. Draw, stamp, cut out from a magazine etc an eye. Use it as a jumping off point for your page.
4. Use sprays, mists or inks on your page. Spray them with water and let them drip. I want a miniumum of 5 drips on your page.
5. Journal around the outside edges of your page. Right around the whole page or two pages. You can repeat what you say if it is short and sweet.
6. Use the color black.
7. Use this quote and photo for your inspiration and let me know how relate your page to it.
8. HAVE F.U.N. 

I really felt the need to have an eyeball being balanced on someone"s feet.  I'm looking forward to next month's workshop.

Hoppy Easter, Peeps!

It is finally time for spring to spring.  I'm ready and I know that most of you are too!  And now Edna brings to  you the first holiday that we celebrate after the spring equinox, Easter.

To me spring means taking the red wrapped Valentine's Day candy off the shelves and replacing it with pastel hued Easter treats which will be accompanied by confectionary bunnies.  Enjoy this springy time of themed candy, for Halloween is six months away!

Edna is looking like she is getting into the season with her bunny ears, bringing us the newest challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers: E is for Easter.  I think pink bunny Peeps are her favorite.  I bet she even eats the ears off first.

I always think of the Easter Bunny when I think of Easter.  I even drew this bunny for the challenge.  I put her on an inked and stenciled book page.  After I painted the bunny, I used a Thinlits die on either side of the image, and then I finally stitched the book page to a square of patterned paper.  Then I added the "Hoppy Spring"sentiment, but I do not recall where it's from.

Sadly, this card contains no snark.

Leaping Leprechauns!

The Snarky Sisters are going green!  Challenge 29 is brought to you by the letter "L" as in "L is for Leprechaun!"  

Lucky Edna has found her pot of gold!

My take on this challenge is clean and simple.  I found the free image from The Graphics Fairy and colored it with Distress Markers and water.  I printed out the sentiment on my printer, stamped some four leaf clovers and voila!

Fifty Shades of Grey, Snarky Style!

Have you read Fifty Shades of Grey?  Have you seen the movie?  Have you created a crafty project around it?  The Snarky Sisterhood's newest challenge is for you to create a project (card, tag, art journal page, etc.) based on Fifty Shades of Grey or the color grey.

Here is my take on our current challenge.

I used this image from The Graphics Fairy  She has such a great collection of useable images!  I haven't read the books or seen the movie.  I had to get some information from the lovely Sisters that have read the books.  I kept running into certain images doing my research.   My question was, "Is the tie significant?"  

I guess so!
