I chose to be elegant and a bit silly for this challenge.  Audrey Hepburn is often thought of as elegant, and by adding the phrase, "Stay Classy," my card isn't too serious. This is a great card to send to a friend.

HRH Queen Ednatoria

Challenge #80 is brought to you by the letter "Q". "Q" is for Queen. Make us something queenly, which can be a Mother's Day card, a birthday card for your bestie, or hate mail for your lady boss. Show us something majestically snarky.

I used a bunch of fun toys on my tag. I finally used my new Precision Press stamping tool by WRMK. Those letters are individuals, so this tool was really handy. Also new were the Distress Oxide inks in Broken China and Worn Lipstick. Other supplies: black Staz-On, Inktess Blocks, white embossing powder, my Silhouette, and gold calligraphy ink. Enough about me.

What Was I Thinking?

    Hello! I'm still alive. It's been eight months since my last post. Have you missed me? Well, have you at least noticed? OK, never mind, I'm back anyway.

    I have missed playing along with my Snarky Sisters! The new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is #76 Y is for Y Did I Buy That? Do you have one of these items floating around your craft room? Did you buy it on sale? Was this item for a particular project that you never got around to and have now completely forgotten about? Perhaps someone slipped it into your shopping cart when you weren't looking?

    I think bought the square card suit stamps when my son was calling himself "Ace." That was eight years ago and I never did anything with these stamps.  I did one scrapbook layout about his temporary identity crisis.  A few (maybe two?) I picked up this sentiment stamp to go with the playing card theme---and then I think one of my Snarky Sisters saw the same sale I did and used this stamp before I could! So I felt I had to wait awhile before I could use this stamp for the Snarky Sisters' blog.

Altoids Paint Tin

I solemnly swear that I will not make a card during this challenge. Edna won't let me. But I can make anything else I want. Welcome to challenge #60: N is for Not a Card!

I've been wanting to make a travel watercolor kit out of an Altoids tin that I saw on Pinterest and this challenge gave me the perfect opportunity.  Here are some pictures of my kit.

I started this project by making a Gelli print.  Don't even ask me the last time that I used my Gelli plate. Once the paper was dry, I used my Silhouette to cut out the Altoids tin pattern.  You just need to look up "mint tin" in the Silhouette search bar if you are interested.

The papers were stamped and edged with black ink.  On this top layer I affixed the vintage lady and my bit of snark. I used matte medium to glue the papers to the tin.

Once the tin was papered, I made a mini watercolor book.  I cut four 2 inch by 3 1/4 inch pieces of watercolor paper, and a cover from the gelli print.

I stamped some images onto shrink film to add little arty charms to the bookbinding thread.

The watercolor palette is from gum packaging.  I squirted the primary colors into the gum container and left one empty for a place for water. This shorty brush fits perfectly into the tin. The book, brush, and paint all fit into the closed tin.  Now I have watercolors wherever I go!

Embrace the Embossabilities

It's time to play along with the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers again!  Our latest and greatest challenge is E is for Embossing.  You can emboss your favorite way, with a folder,  or with a heat tool and  embossing powder. To join in all you need to do is include embossing (if you can serve your embossing up with a side of snark, even better)!

I went with heat embossing on my altered playing card.  First I used clear gesso on the card, heat embossed and finally painted the card and rubbed the paint off from the embossed areas. I also added a bit of ink to tone down the bright blues.  The background paper was first painted, then embossed, then painted in black.

My gentleman is from Tumble Fish Studios and the brilliant words are from Lisa's Altered Art.

L is for Legend

The legendary Edna has decide to make a challenge based on her.  "L is for Legend" is the new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! You might has seen one of those legendary creatures this week on St. Paddy's Day!  

The fun unicorns are from a former Guest Designer, Jess.  She has fun digital freebies on her blog, Useless Trinkets. I printed and cut the unicorns and the mug and colored them with Copic markers. The rest of the cards were made on the computer, so I could just stick those cuties on there.  

Which in theory gave me more time to work on my mermaid art doll.

The mermaid doll is from Retro Café Art, which provides tons of original cutouts for your decoration pleasure.  The only problem I have with their website is that I never have enough money for everything I want to buy.  :(

Moon, Stars and Gears

Hello fellow snarky people!  It's time for a new challenge at The Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers.  Challenge 54: G is for Gears is now open for your playing convieniance.  We know you have something Steampunkesque in your stashes!

My crafting goal this year is to work my way through my craft stash.  I have plenty of metal bits that I have been collecting.  With this challenge I was able to use some of those  bits up!  I layered on gears and other metal findings, adding layers of gesso, gel mediums, and beads.  I put an image from DigitalMagpie on the metal plate and secured it to the canvas board with a chain.

Leaping Leprechauns!

The Snarky Sisters are going green!  Challenge 29 is brought to you by the letter "L" as in "L is for Leprechaun!"  

Lucky Edna has found her pot of gold!

My take on this challenge is clean and simple.  I found the free image from The Graphics Fairy and colored it with Distress Markers and water.  I printed out the sentiment on my printer, stamped some four leaf clovers and voila!

Edna says BRRR!

Here is Edna with the latest challenge.  She appears to be stuck in a snow drift during a blizzard.  That's because Challenge #25 is "W is for Wow! (It's cold!)  Personally I love winter, unless the weather makes it too dangerous to drive.  Many Snarky Sisters are northerners, and by that I mean Canadians, and they may feel differently about the snow and the cold.  

This sweet gal feels like I do, she really loves winter.  Why do we love winter so much?  Here is my computer generated sentiment to tell you why:

V is for Vintage

   My card is autobiographical.  My husband has said that he thinks I was a house cat in my past life.

   This stamp set is from Crackerbox Palace.  They are a little independent store in Wisconsin and they have a great selection.  Hint, hint.  And no, I'm not affiliated with them.  The papers are from G45's Domestic Goddess collection.

How Distressing!

Hello and welcome to the new Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers biweekly challenge. #17 is brought to you by the letter "D." "D" is for Distressing, my dears. Edna surely appears to be in distress. Show us your distress techniques!

I stole was inspired by a recent tutorial by France Papillon.  You can visit her and see what I stole was  inspired by HERE. I think her work is amazing.

Quick and Dirty How To:

My card began with a layer of gesso on 8.5 x 11" white card stock. A few strips of sheet music were added and also gessoed over. Using gel medium, I stenciled on some stars, which then were coated with glitter. The stars were given a second coat of gel medium, which did not stop them from picking up the color of the mists. The spray mists were followed with another stencil (tiny dots) which I used with tinted blue texture paste. The card edges were then distressed and inked. The sentiment (Dylusions) and the embellishments were then added. 

Edna says O is for One!

It's that time again!  Time for the next challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.  Edna challenges you to use one color, making a monochrome card.  

Here is what I put together for this challenge.  I found a piece of light blue cardstock that matched Tumbled Glass Distress ink.  The card stock became my foundation for the card.  I then used the Tim Holtz Sizzx die and embossing folder to make this dragonfly.  May I insert my pet peeve here?  Of course I may.  It's my blog.  This die and embossing folder set does not match.  The embossing folder has the antennae of the dragon fly while the die does not.  Even though I had the die, I still wound up fussy cutting the embossed dragonfly so it could have antennae!

Rant over.

I used Tumbled Glass and Broken China Distress inks on the dragonfly and its shadow.  Then I found the piece of blue fiber in my ribbon stash.  I had just enough fiber to edge the card with.  It's only taken me seven years to use that fiber up!

K is for Kraft

We are ready for the next challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!  Edna is making us use KRAFT paper in our projects.  

Edna didn't know that I had never made a kraft card before. I've used kraft paper in scrapbooking projects, but have never tried to scale it down for a card. I googled some images on the google machine and found some very lovely examples. I also decided that I liked red with my kraft. At the time I was also wearing a brown shirt with red flowers, but this may have been coincidence.   

Here is my card.  I was digging through my stamps and found the sentiment first, then I ran across the image and thought, perfect!  While I was putting this card together, I realized that one of our snarky challenge players had made a card with this sentiment for one of our challenges. I hope you don't mind that I copied you subconsciously!

B is for Buttons or Brads

It's time for challenge number 12 at the Snarky Sisterhood.  We want to see your buttons or brads.  Edna prefers Brads.  I think she has pretty good taste!

I went with the brad option myself.  

The image is from Rubber Dance, which I cut apart so I could reattach the limbs with brads.  Both backgrounds are made with Tim Holtz products.  I have used a layering stencil, Distress Paint and Distress Ink on this card.

S is for Steampunk

Who is ready for a steampunk project?  Get your gears in gear!  The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is going to challenge you to share your Steampunk creation.

Here is the inspiration that I have made for the challenge. I used colored pencils and acrylic paints on the stamped image.  I added lots of metals and a jaunty feather.

I framed my image with chipboard and decided to leave the rest of the card unembellished.  I did play around with other embellishments, but felt that they made the card too busy.  Best to keep the star of the show happy on this card.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #9 Ribbon

Welcome to the 9th challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. Your mission is to use ribbon on your project. You can use a little, or you can see what our reigning Queen of Snark Guest Designer, Shoni, made for this challenge. (Wow!) Please have a look at her project, as well as what my Snarky Sisters made for this challenge.

Alas, my card is without snark, but it's kind of pretty. I used the April Scraps of Darkness "His & Hers" Kit for this card. It was filled with Prima goodness. The stamps I used are two "oldies but goodies" out of my hoard, and I used the Lindsey's Stamp Gang that were included in the kit. This time I even finished the inside of the card.  I know. I was like, "Whoa!"  

There is a reason that this card is finished inside and out. I also made it for the dress form swap at Scraps of Darkness. You can find out about the kit and all the fun swaps on Facebook or on the SOD blog.
