Y is for Yo Mama!

Challenge #7, "Y is for Yo Mama," is ready to be played at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!  Mother's Day is coming up, so if you need to do a card, you can enter it into our challenge.  You could make your mother the lovely and sentimental card and enter our challenge.  Then you could make a card for your mother (or mother-in-law) that shows your true feelings and you could enter our challenge.  We are excepting sweet or snarky cards.

I made a sweet card.  I pulled out my secret weapon, Graphic 45, and used papers from the Secret Garden line.  

All the layers were slightly distressed.  On the bird and pattered paper I used Old Paper Distress Ink.  The plain card stock was given the dual treatment of Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and Peach Bellini Glimmer Glam.  

I embossed the front of the card with a translucent embossing powder. On the inside of the card I used the same stamp, so I will spare you all that view.  ;)

I embellished the card with metals, flowers, fibers and a drop "gem."

Gypsy Frame Glass Transfer for Zeus and Zoe

Hello Everyone!

I did some upcycling that I wanted to share with everyone.  I have this picture frame that I like, but I didn't like the color of the fake wood.  This frame became the perfect candidate for a Zeus and Zoe make over.

First I coated the frame with gesso.

After the first coat of gesso, I added torn strips of pages from an old book.

I did not cover the entire frame with the vintage paper.  I left some areas with only gesso and overlapped the papers in other areas. Ensuring complete dryness, I let the frame sit overnight.  I began painting with the frame.

On the Graphic Fairy's website, I found this image.  I recolored her blouse in photoshop, because I didn't want the bright yellow.  

I took Mod Podge and coated one of the pieces of glass, then I took the print out and placed it carefully over the glass.  You have to be very careful if you are using an inkjet printer image, as to not smear the image.

The gypsy image was also left to dry overnight.  Once dry, I misted the back of the paper with water. 

Rub the damp paper carefully to remove most of the paper from the glass, being careful to leave the image.

I finished embellishing the frame with goodies.  I beaded dangly metal circles to string across the inside edge of the frame, as a nod to my gypsy image.

The frame can be used with the gypsy image as decor.  Or since this frame can be seen from either side, you could still place a picture inside and have the gypsy image on the back.

Spring has Sprung, Punky Scraps #74 with Zeus and Zoe

The April mood board for the new Punky Scraps challenge has made me appreciate the great spring weather.  

After freezing in Wisconsin, the weather is Germany has been beautiful.  Everything is blooming, and smells wonderful; except for the sheep on the edge of town.

I used some vintage elements from Zeus and Zoe on this LO.  The pink crocheted flower, the book print of the little girl, the fussy cut bird and the metal butterfly are all from Zeus and Zoe.

Best yet, this is the last project that I will have to complete with only my magic suitcase.  My home goods are delivered tomorrow!  Woohoo!  Thanks for having a look!

I am still working out of my craft supply suitcase (see previous post), and I don't currently have access to a printer, so the sentiment is computer generated.  No one wants to see my handwriting on the front of their card.

 However, this should be the last SoSS challenge that I will have work with limited supplies.

My house hold goods arrive this week!

I know that I must attend to the kitchen, bed linens, and spring clothing first. Then I am going through all of my craft goodies. It will take me forever to get organized again.

New House Update and a Card

Over on the Zeus and Zoe blog and on my "normal" self blog, 

I posted this card:

We found a nice little house. It is a stand alone house with a tiny yard. My kids have a bakery right by their bus stop, so I am sure that drives them nuts every morning.

Although we have been in our house for three weeks, we are still waiting on one of our cars and all the house furnishings to arrive. Currently we have the most beautiful of loaner furniture.  I am grateful for the loaner furniture (sitting and sleeping on the floor for three weeks is pretty uncomfortable.)

Uncomfortable, unsightly, but appreciated loaner chair, which I believe is upholstered in outdoor fabric.  The curtain came with the house.

The kitchen.  I believe it is better to show this before I have junked it all up with my belongings.

My dining area, which just is not feeling cozy yet.

Bowls from Spain.  I thought the marbled pottery was too cool to pass up.  One is now my husband's popcorn bowl. 

My craft room in a carry-on sized suitcase.

The Fool in Spring: The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge 4

The Sisterhood presents:

The card that I put together for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is for the "Fancy Fold" challenge.  My current supplies are what I fit into my carry on luggage and one kit from my scrapbooking club, Scraps of Darkness.  

The only ruler I have is the one on my paper trimmer, so my folded card is not the fanciest.  This card will stand up on the fold out base.
