Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #9 Ribbon

Welcome to the 9th challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. Your mission is to use ribbon on your project. You can use a little, or you can see what our reigning Queen of Snark Guest Designer, Shoni, made for this challenge. (Wow!) Please have a look at her project, as well as what my Snarky Sisters made for this challenge.

Alas, my card is without snark, but it's kind of pretty. I used the April Scraps of Darkness "His & Hers" Kit for this card. It was filled with Prima goodness. The stamps I used are two "oldies but goodies" out of my hoard, and I used the Lindsey's Stamp Gang that were included in the kit. This time I even finished the inside of the card.  I know. I was like, "Whoa!"

There is a reason that this card is finished inside and out. I also made it for the dress form swap at Scraps of Darkness. You can find out about the kit and all the fun swaps on Facebook or on the SOD blog.

You have until the end of 13 June to enter the SoSS ribbon challenge.  Good luck to our potential queen and princesses!

Creative Canvas for Molossi

Hello there! I am a bit late to the game for the May Mood Board Challenge, but I wanted to share what I have created. There are a few days left in May, so get going on your projects and link-up to our challenge!

I am making my debut today on the Molossi blog with this project:

This is a small 6x6 inch canvas. I gave it a coat of paint to match that wonderful door on the Mood Board.  I also liked how the details were painted the same color as the door. I painted the Dusty Attic Swirly Vines to match the canvas. Next I stenciled the alphabet onto the canvas with Viva 3D Stamp-Paint.

The tag on my canvas was made using the Graphic 45 Typography collection.  The edges of the papers were colored with Distress Inks in Black Soot and Tumbled Glass, and each layer was mounted with plenty of room in between to tuck in the feathers and other pieces of chipboard. The butterflies are Dusty Attic Flutterbies.  I painted them different colors and gave them different finishing treatments to set them off. Some of the detail work of the butterflies was done with Kaisercraft paint in black. The green butterfly was given a coat of Viva Glitter Paste for some sparkle. The red butterfly's edges were rubbed with Viva Inka-Gold in gold. I also accented some other areas of the canvas with the gold.

The second vine chipboard, ribbon, fiber, metal bits and vacuum tube were added to the tag.  On the bottom of the canvas I added the quote "Creativity takes courage," by Henri Matisse.  Go be brave and creative!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

C is for Crap

Welcome to the 8th Challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky of Snarky Stampers.  This challenge is brought to you by the letter "C."  "C" is for Crap, as in, "Why did I buy that Crap?"

All of us have an item or two (or more) that we have bought and then later wondered why we ever bought it in the first place.  Was it on sale?  Were we immersed in the madness of Crafter's Shopping Frenzy?  Or have we held onto it for so long that our tastes have changed?

Here is my crap.  I bought this paper pack online- seven years ago.  It has moved with me three times (from Illinois to Kansas, to Wisconsin, and most recently to Germany) and I have never used any of the paper pack.

If you know me at all, you know that I ordered the paper pack for the gnomes.  There just weren't enough gnomes.  Why wasn't the gnome on every single piece of paper?  I'm glad that this challenge came up.  I actually made a cute card that is nice.  Now I will have to find someone nice to send it to.

You have until May 30 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time to enter our challenge.  Show us the crap you have purchased and haven't used.  If you have time, visit my snarky sisters at their blogs.

And if you know any good gnome jokes, feel free to leave them in the comments.  Thanks for stopping by!

Molossi and Me

Molossi debuted me on May 6th.  I'm officially a part of their wonderful design team.  Here is the link for my introduction: Molossi Blog.

And they even gave me a cool frame for my photo.

Onto more important matters...
Here is the first ever Molossi Mood board challenge.  I have copy and pasted the information for the challenge below.

We want to see how this mood board, designed by the talented Rikki Graziani, inspires you! Entries for this challenge are due May 31, 2014.

ANYONE CAN ENTER!

We accept scrapbook layouts and canvases. We also accept art journal double spread pages or single art journal pages, along with cards and off-the-page creations. We do not accept digital entries, ATCs, or tags.

Please create unique entries for this Mood Board Challenge. Entries must not be submitted for any other online challenges and they are not to be combined with other challenges.

You need to be a blog owner to play (so you can link up to your blog). Please do not link up to galleries, as commenting is often a problem for our design team. If we are not members of the same gallery we will not be able to gain access to your work easily to leave comments.

Please link up your project via the InLinkz tool on the Molossi Blog. Do not link to your entire blog, as this makes it difficult to find your post and could therefore could result in us being unable to comment on or judge your entry.

This challenge is open to Australian and International contestants! The prize is a $40 product pack plus postage. Judging will take place after the close of the challenge by the design team. All decisions are final.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Y is for Yo Mama!

Challenge #7, "Y is for Yo Mama," is ready to be played at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!  Mother's Day is coming up, so if you need to do a card, you can enter it into our challenge.  You could make your mother the lovely and sentimental card and enter our challenge.  Then you could make a card for your mother (or mother-in-law) that shows your true feelings and you could enter our challenge.  We are excepting sweet or snarky cards.

I made a sweet card.  I pulled out my secret weapon, Graphic 45, and used papers from the Secret Garden line.

All the layers were slightly distressed.  On the bird and pattered paper I used Old Paper Distress Ink.  The plain card stock was given the dual treatment of Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink and Peach Bellini Glimmer Glam.

I embossed the front of the card with a translucent embossing powder. On the inside of the card I used the same stamp, so I will spare you all that view.  ;)

I embellished the card with metals, flowers, fibers and a drop "gem."

Hope you like it Mom!

Please visit my snarky sisters' blogs to see what they have come up with for Mother's Day.

Shari, our current Guest Designer
Jessi, who made both kinds of cards!
Karen, also made both cards.
