Calling All Winos

The mid-month challenge at the Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers is now online!  And it happens to be one of the sisters' favorite topics: WINE!

I think my card looks like I had been drinking wine during its making.  I wasn't drinking then, I swear! Please stop by the Sisterhood of Snarky Stamper's page to see what our design team, including our current Queen of Snark guest designer, Vicky; have made to celebrate wine.

I'm keeping my post short as I am in the middle of packing for a trip.  And it will be my mom's birthday when this is posted, so : HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

You Know Want It

Cake.  You really do want it!  The new challenge is "C is for Cake!"

Here is my inspiration piece for you.  I do not have an actual cake on my card, but I mention cake.  I must admit that I saw this statement on an E-card and had to make my own.  

I made this card with Dylusions Paints and a stencil, and the stamp is from Stampotique.

Mama Don't Be Blue

It's time to make a card for your mom.  Edna wants you to do it in one color.  The new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers is M is for Monochromatic Mama!  

I started by coloring my own paper with Lindy's Stamp Gang Tibetan Poppy Teal.  This paper became the lattice die cut.  I even had a piece of paper that matched the spray!  I stamped the colored cardstock with the sentiment and  embossed it with white powder before I used embossing ink to stamp the script stamp and to darken the lower portion of the card.  My final touch was the addition of dew drops from the Robin's Nest.

Then I made something about what I really wanted for Mother's Day.  This was how I felt when my husband had to spend a year away from home for work.  I was living in a foreign country with a toddler and a preschooler.  I may have been a bit exhausted by the end of the year and I remembered fantasizing about being able to spend one night away in a hotel (alone) after my husband returned home.  

Now that my children are older I don't have this feeling anymore.  Now I want to to take them with me to the hotel and travel.  

The art journal page was with Distress Spray, Ink, and Marker in Mermaid Lagoon.

Art Journaling

The old blog has been kind of quiet.  I thought I'd post what I made for the April Dylusions Facebook Challenge.  The rules were to use red, blue and stars.  I went big in bold in the art journal, using Dylusions paints.  Thanks for having a look.

How Quickly Time Goes By

I am always amazed at how quickly time goes by.  Take today for example, it's time to post the new challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.  I thought we just did that last week!

Here is Challenge 32: Q is for Quick.  Your challenge is make a card (or tag or ATC) in 10 minutes.

I did put this card together in 10 minutes.  Now I know that you are going to look at this card and think, "But of course you did!"  

 My method:  I had everything selected and ready on my desk.  I cannot decide, locate, and prepare a project in less than 30 minutes.  I will find an item, set it down, and then cannot remember where I put it so I have to find it again.  

After setting the timer on my phone, I used coordinating BoBunny papers, selecting the fairy image.  Cutting papers, inking edges, and sticking them down is quite time consuming.  I used the grids on the light paper to help place the focal point on my card.  I intentionally placed it more to the left, as I thought I would separate "create magic" and place the words by the fairy.  The card looks straight in person, but the photo makes it look crooked.  The ribbon was added with the tiny attacher because I knew I couldn't tie a tiny bow in less than a minute. I finished this with 6 seconds to spare.

I punched out the bullet holes for fun.  Then I decided to turn this into an anniversary card.  My husband missed our anniversary last month because he was away for work.  ;)
